On August 7th 2021, the team from Unmasked Mental Health & Wellbeing will be taking on a challenge of epic proportions. Over 14 days, the team will cycle from Lands End to John O’Groats. The aim is to raise funds to help the team continue to provide vital mental health support services to men and women across the UK.
Removing the stigma around mental health
Unmasked Mental Health was set up by three friends from Halifax, who have had first hand experiences of overcoming mental health issues. Their goal is a simple one – to remove the stigma surrounding mental ill health.
Founders Logan, Doug, and Robin provide a nationwide service that’s open to everyone. Their goal is to put a peer support hub in place within an hours drive of any UK location. Unmasked hold their mental health support groups every Thursday evening at 7pm in various locations across the UK. The sessions are open to everyone and more information on Unmasked’s hubs can be found here.
Making counselling affordable
In November 2020, Unmasked started offering professional counselling services with the aim of making the services accessible and affordable. With one in four people in England experiencing a mental health issue of some kind each year, this service is invaluable.
Funds raised from Unmasked’s charity bike ride will go straight back into helping the team continue to provide these vital services around the UK.
Make a donation or join the team on their challenge
Unmasked are inviting anyone who’s up for the challenge to join them. You can take part in the full tour or you can join the team for a stage or two. If you’d like to take part or you want to support the team, you can get in touch by emailing info@unmakedmentalhealth.co.uk
Donations to the appeal are welcome. £10 provides a month of refreshments at one of Unmasked’s peer support hubs. £20 provides one hour of counselling for a user of Unmasked’s counselling service. A gift of £200 gets your logo on the team’s kit for the duration of the 14 day bike ride. You can make a donation to this worthy cause here.
