BIOGRAPHY

Personal Profile

In my personal life, I am generally described as an avid book hoarder, obsessed rabbit mum, aspirational crocheter, very amateur archer, professional daydreamer and an Olympic Gold level clumsy noggin.

I love learning and can be found collecting new hobbies by the week – current fads being making things with epoxy resin and learning some form of very garbled Spanish. Sometimes at the same time.

I live with my long-term suffering partner Graham and two very diva-like pet rabbits – Tiffin and Strudel – near Bingley/Haworth, West Yorkshire.

COMPANY PROFILE

I offer freelance, contract and consultancy services in the areas of content, learning and graphic design. I am quite unique in that I can work on full end-to-end projects: creating the copy, the design and styling, and in the case of e-learning, the build. It is hard enough to source a team for a project, without having to get separate people for different roles within the project.

I approach projects with a holistic view, understanding the interplay of visual elements and written language, and how to enhance the flow of a message for your audience. I create user-focused, holistic designs which tell a story through combining imagery, words and flow, always with the end-user at the forefront of the development.

I help businesses to refine their content so that it reaches and engages their audience, via the best medium, at the best time, and in the best place.

HEY Helen, WHY DID YOU JOIN
THE NORTHERN AFFINITY?

Having explored the idea of joining networks before I have always been put off by the formality and a feeling that I needed to be 'more professional' (i.e. not myself) in them and have ultimately been put off. But having been introduced to NA by a fellow partner I liked the relaxed, friendly feeling and it seemed filled with more like-minded, genuine people. I have spent a lot of time networking in these last two years and am more comfortable to do it, but now needed to find the right forum to do it.
